3 Fast Fun Easy Useful & Unique DIY Baby Gifts + Tutorials 2 of 3

Three Fast, Fun, Easy, Useful and Unique DIY Baby Gift Tutorials
Part 2 - One tutorial is the day before and the last will be the day following this.

Guest blogger Faye Mitchell back with the next tutorial. This post we will make these darling wipe cases. So gather up your supplies....

Supplies:
Items with * have a link to the Craft Chameleon products
SVG Design Program ( Studio, Design Space, SCAL, etc)
* Vinyl
  Vinyl Application Tool
* Weeding Tool
* Diamond Reamer

....and open up your files.

I chose to use the zebra stripe template that is provided by Craft Chameleon when I purchased the baby wipes container from them.

I then picked out a cute little tiger svg cut file from the silhouette store and added the wording “wild child” in the ZP Three Bears Cut Bonus font obtained from the Silhouette store as well.

Once my design was completed, it was time to cut and apply the vinyl to the baby wipe container.
I did the first layer of black zebra stripes first.

Be sure to use a clear transfer tape so you can see to add the vinyl. Because the wipe container isn’t entirely flat or smooth like an acrylic, you will need to burnish the vinyl a lot with your applicator tool to get it to stick. Be very careful and remove your transfer tape slowly.

After the zebra stripes, I cut the wording “wild child” white background layer and put the orange layer on top of that and then onto the wipe container.

The last step was to add the cute little tiger which finished it off!

Two gifts down and one to go! See you tomorrow and to work on the last gift item, " shhhh baby is sleeping" acrylic sign.

3 Fast Fun Easy Useful & Unique DIY Baby Gifts + Tutorials 1 of 3

Three Fast, Fun, Easy, Useful and Unique DIY Baby Gift Tutorials
Part 1 - Stay tuned for the following 2 posts to make all 3 gifts.

Hi everyone, Faye Mitchell back with another guest blog post or two or three!  This time I’m making a baby gift set using the amazing products you can purchase from the Craft Chameleon. Today's tutorial shows you how to create the "Stop" "Wash your hands before touching mine" stroller or pumpkin seat tag.

Supplies:
Items with * have a link to the Craft Chameleon products
SVG Design Program ( Studio, Design Space, SCAL, etc)
  Vinyl Application Tool
* Weeding Tool

I first assembled my supplies to make the “Stop” "Wash Your Hands before touching mine" tag.  Then I opened the design template for the 3” octagon that Craft Chameleon sent to me when I purchased the octagon shaped acrylic.

If you are using Silhouette Studio software, the Studio design you open is the correct size so you just have to send it to your machine to cut.  If you open the SVG design in Cricut Design Space, be sure to size it using the dimensions shown in the attached png file. Other design software may or may not need to size the SVG files. If you use another software let us know if you have to resize the SVG files.

Cut your vinyl and weed. Apply the vinyl to the octagon acrylic making sure the hole is at the top. If you need more detailed instructions on vinyl cutting and placement see my other blog post HERE, where it goes into more detail.

The final step to complete the tag by adding the ball chains. Using two ball chains, so it will be sure to reach around the handle of the baby carrier or stroller, attach them to each other before putting it through the hole of the acrylic.

Now the baby's friendly reminder is ready. Stay tuned for tomorrow and we will work on the next gift set item, the baby wipes container!

Burlap Bunny Bags - Heat Press & Iron Tutorial using Heat Transfer Vinyl

Photographs CG Swafford

Hi everyone!  I’m CG, a crafter/hobbyist/home business owner in southwest Ohio.  I have been married to my wonderful husband for 10 years and I am a stay at home mother of 2 great children, an 8 year old daughter, and a 4 year old son.  I find time to craft and create between school-time and daily life and I enjoy every second.   I received both of my Silhouette Cameo original and a Silhouette Cameo 3 as gifts.  I currently use Silhouette Design Software for Business.

I have been using my Silhouette Cameo for home crafts, birthday décor and gifts since 2012.  I am honored to be apart of the Craft Chameleon Blog and I am so excited to share these super cute burlap bunny bags with you today.  I will be demonstrating 2 ways to apply heat transfer vinyl to the burlap bags, with a heat press, and with a home iron.

Supplies:
Items with * have a link to the Craft Chameleon products

* Bunny Face File  - these are free with your purchase.
The file links are found in your shipping confirmation.
Siser Easyweed Heat Transfer Vinyl in Black & Royal Blue
  Vinyl Cutting Machine
  Silhouette Designer Software
  Teflon Cover Sheet
  Heat Press or Home Iron
Step 1
Download files from Craft Chameleon for this project.  We will be using a modified version of CC Bunny Face.  Open the downloaded file in your design software.

Step 2
Select the image, right click and then select Ungroup.  We will be removing the ears from the image and using the face portion only.   Now select the ears and delete.  This will leave the face on your screen.

Step 3
Select all the parts of the face & Group.  Resize the image to approximately 6” wide x 4” tall.

Step 4
Using the text tool add a name to your bunny face using your favorite font.  I have chosen to use Smoothie Shoppe for Olivia & Whackadoo for Owen.  These are both free fonts found at Dafont.com.  Size the name and center to your liking.  Be sure to weld the font if the letters overlap.

Step 5
I added a bow as an embellishment to the top of my design.  I sized it to about 2x2.5.  I have had this image for so long I can’t remember where I got it.  However, Craft Chameleon has this bow design for $.90 and you get an acrylic bow to use later!

Step 6
Mirror your image and text.

Step 7
Cut your pieces from heat transfer vinyl in your desired colors.  Use the recommended cut settings for your machine and vinyl type. I cut the Siser Glitter first and Siser Easyweed next.  Since these cut with different cut settings, I had to send them thru the Silhouette at separate times.
Step 8 Heat Press
{If you are using a home iron, skip this these steps and refer to the Step 8 Home section below.}
Weed the vinyl & prepare your heat press to the correct temperatures for your brand of vinyl

Step 9
Press the Bunny Bag for a few seconds using a Teflon or cover sheet to get out some of the moisture. Tip: Some crafters use a folded towel inside to keep the lining straight and unbonded. Plus it can aid in getting an even press.

Step 10
Align black vinyl in the appropriate location on the bag being sure things are level and even.  Press for the recommended time.

Step 11
Remove carrier sheet and press again for a few more seconds.  If the vinyl lifts with the carrier sheet, lay the carrier sheet back down and press again with the heat press.  Be sure to apply with lots of pressure.

Step 12
Repeat with pink vinyl pieces.  Once the vinyl has all been applied and carrier sheet removed, cover one last time with Teflon cover sheet and press again for a few more seconds.  This process will set the design.

Step 8 Home Iron
Adjust the heat dial on your Home Iron to Wool or slightly below.  I have found that this temperature setting works best with the burlap material.

Step 9 Home IronOn a firm work surface, place a Teflon cover sheet over your bunny bag.  Press the design area for a few seconds to remove excess moisture. Tip: Some crafters use a folded towel inside to keep the lining straight and unbonded. Plus it can aid in getting an even press.

Step 10 Home Iron
Next, align the black bunny eyes & whisker piece to the desired location.  Be sure it is level and centered where you want.  Cover with Teflon sheet and press down firmly for 10 to 15 seconds with your home iron.  Do not move it back and forth. If your iron does not cover the entire design press in segments until the entire piece has been pressed.

Step 11 Home Iron
Remove the Teflon cover sheet and lift carrier sheet from the vinyl.  If the vinyl lifts with the carrier sheet, place the carrier sheet back down and recover with Teflon sheet and press again with the home iron.  Pressure is key!

Home Iron TIP: If the vinyl is having trouble adhering to the burlap, I have found that burnishing it a bit really helps.  I do this with my iron or my vinyl squeegee after the vinyl is heated a bit through the Teflon cover sheet.  I have found that this helps to get the vinyl down in the grooves of the burlap and create a secure bond.

Step 12 Home Iron
Once the vinyl is applied and carrier sheet has been removed, cover the design area with the Teflon sheet again and press a few more seconds with the home iron.  This will set the design.

To Complete
Repeat steps 10 -12 with the nose, bow, and name.

Voila! Your Burlap Bunny is in/on the Bag!

Thank you CG Swafford!

DIY St. Patrick’s Day Top Hat Headband for Child and Doll Tutorial

DIY St. Patrick’s Day Top Hat Headband for Child and Doll Cricut Tutorial

Our Guest Blogger today is Jessie Sickler, you are going to enjoy this tutorial post.

These headbands are a great accessory for your little one and their doll.  Not only are they adorable for St. Patrick’s Day but you can customize them for just about any holiday or occasion.  As you work through this tutorial I suggest you work on both hats at the same time.  It’s easier to get all your work done on the step rather than going back and doing it all again to make the smaller hat.

Felt not shown
       Supplies:
Items with * have a link to the Craft Chameleon products
·
 * 2 Green Satin Headbands
   Black Felt
¼” Green Glitter or regular green ribbon
   Scissors
   Hot Glue Gun
   Ruler
Chalk or white dress making pencil

Creating flower embellishments.
You will need to make 2 large white and 1 large green and 2 small white and 2 small green flowers.  I used my Cricut Maker and a Design Space flower to cut my fabric.

Alternatives: If you have a Sizzix or other manual die cutting machine you can use this flower die to cut your shapes.  Clover,
Clover Flower Frills Template, even makes a cardboard folding template that you can use with fabric to cut your flower pieces. Clover Flower Frills Template

In Design Space I pulled up a basic flower template and made 2 flowers.  The large is 2.5” and the small is 1.5”.  I used the pink fabric mat and laid my fabric with the soft side up.   When setting your material type select “light fabrics like silk”.  This was light enough that it did not cut the mat but deep enough to cut the fabric.

Here are the totals for the number of flower shapes you need to cut:
  •         12 Large White
  •          6 Large Green
  •         12 Small White
  •          6 Small Green

If you want a flower, we need to make the petals.  Each flower takes 6 cuts, 1 for the base and 5 for the petals.  To make the flower you will need to fold your petals.

Lay the flower cut with the suede side down, fold it in half once, and then fold it in half again (fold it into quarters).  For each fold put a tiny dab of hot glue to keep it in place.  When you are done with all your petals you should have 10 large white, 5 large green, 10 small white and 5 small green.

Now you are ready to put your flowers together.  Fold your remaining flower cut in quarters and then open it back up to you can see the creases.  These lines will serve as your guide for laying your petals.

You will see that a petal fits perfectly into the quarters of the flower.  Glue each of the 4 petals into the 4 quarters of your flower.
The last petal is glued into the top center to round it out.  Complete this process with your remaining petals and you will end up with your 2 large and 2 small white flowers and 1 large and 1 small green flower.  Put those to the side, for now, we will get back to them later.

Lining the hat with Ribbon
You will need to cut your green ribbon into 2 lengths.  11.5” for the mini hat and 7” for the doll hat. Starting on the right side of the hat, glue down the ribbon at the based, wrap it around the hat and secure the end overlapping the beginning.

That overlap will be covered by your flowers.  Do this on both hats.

Attaching the flowers

Now you are ready to go grab those flowers you made earlier.  On the right side of the hat glue both large white flowers on the mini hat at the base and top them off by glueing the green flower on top and in the middle of the two white ones.  Do the same for the small flowers on the doll hat.

Attaching your hat to a headband
We are heading into the home stretch and all we need to do now is get that little hat to stay on our headband.

Take your black felt and with chalk trace the hat.  When you cut that shape out you want to cut inside the line because you want your felt base to be smaller than the circumference of the brim.

Once you have your bases cut lay them over the underside of the hat and hold your headband against the hat where you would want it to sit.  I wanted my hat to sit to the side so my headband is rotated.  Once you have your headband where you want it, make two little marks where the headband meets the hat.

On each of those two little white marks, you are going to cut a small slit, just big enough for the headband to fit through.  You will put each side of the headband through the slit and slide the felt into the position of where you would want the brim of the hat to go.

Once you have it in place you will then place it onto the hat and hot glue it into place.  The easiest way is to do one side at a time.  Also, you can place a good amount of hot glue where the headband meets the hat to help hold it in place.   The felt base helps to stabilize the hat on the headband.

At the end of every rainbow is a pot of gold, isn't she a doll!!
You did it!  You can also add additional embellishments if you would like.  A simple swap of the color’s selected and you can make this fit any occasion.  It’s a fun, easy accessory to add to the collection!
