Valentines Day Cards for the Bookish

Happy Valentine's Day!

This past weekend several crafting friends met here in St. Louis for a fun filled day of crafting. Both for ourselves and for others. We made magnetic bookmarks that will be donated with books to a local counseling center and food pantry. Then a few ladies made bookmarks for their children's Valentines Day and I thought it was a great idea!

So Sunday my daughter and I made these magnetic bookmarks together for her Valentines swap at school. Then we brainstormed and came up with a pun for the inside of the card. She chose the ribbon 'Live, Laugh, Love' from AllAboutRibbon.com and we put it on hot pink for the girls and lime green for the boys. What a fun, inexpensive, useful swap that won't cause a sugar high or cavities!

Happy Valentines Day!

Valentine's Day Pizza

Once each month I gather with friends to chat, eat snacks and play Bunco. I just had to share the darling (and yummy) pizza we had at our Valentine's Day themed Bunco last night! What a great idea to make a casual family night Valentines Day meal special. My hostess used her kitchen shears to snip out the hearts from the peperoni and arranged them on a heart serving tray.

Enjoy!

Simple Satin Headband with Bling!

This past December I happened upon a sparkle headband tutorial and posted it to my Pinterest account under my "I Gotta Try This (in my free time)" heading. I noted to myself that I needed to start with a satin headband in lieu of wrapping a plain headband with embroidery floss.

I am happy to post the first few attempts here! It take less than 15 minutes to cut the trim, wrap and secure. I used small pieces of double sided tape to secure everything but hot glue or fabric glue would also work. Be sure to take your headbands to the store to match your embroidery floss. I purchased more of a purl cotton thread than acutal embroidery floss. But I am sure either will work beautifully!
